I am going to use a 1G fwd manual trans wiring harness and install multiport FI on my car. I have decided this will be easier than using megasquirt, which i'll sell to a volkswagen buddy of mine.

I'd like to know a few things:

What year/type of ecu will I need?

What exactly is a DSMLink?

How does it "plug in" or whatever it does when you install it?

I will use a GM maft setup - I've seen it used with that and it's easy.

Are there any other good things to know when I do this? like What will I do for the CAS? is that just a hall sensor? Should I mate a CAS to a stock dist. and make that work? I'm sure it could be done. And What should I do for coils, can I make coil on plug work or single coil?

Thanks!
Andrew

You will need a 1G turbo EPROM ECU of any year (a few wires may need to be swapped depending on the year of the harness and ECU). DSMLink is all burned inside the ECU and then you'll need to hook up a laptop to that in order to tune and data log.

MAF-T will work well.

Not a clue about your CAS questions.

Your CAS questions are pretty straightforward. I'm not 100% sure that the 1g does not have a distributor, but I'm almost certain that it does not (since I'm most knowledgable in 2g's). The hall effect CAS sensor is the most accurate CAS that Mitsu produced. It really shouldn't matter what CAS you use, but the hall effect (black top) is the most sought after. You can certainly make a COP setup work on a 1g. You can also go after the one coil setup as well (stock).

1G was electronic ignition, no POS old-school distributor here.

The stock 1G single coil waste spark system is pretty strong, some of the EVO guys are even upgrading to it.

Where is the best place to pick up one of the ECU's once i find out what year my harness is? That and the CAS, those are the only parts I think i'll have questions with or probs. here's a pic of it incase it matters.

Here is a good place to start looking for a ECU and CAS.

I might have one for sale in a couple months. It doesn't work right now, but I'm sending it out to get repaired.

I have an eprom ecu, already socketed, and even with fresh caps!

I will need $150 and a replacement awd ecu for this trade.
