The only advantages to OEM pistons are that they might have less piston slap, but if your trying to make 500hp you shouldn't be worried about a little piston slap on startup anyways. Buying everything new to do the 2G piston conversion is expensive. I recently did it on Mara's car, but I already had a bunch of used 2G pistons around and I got a set of new rings off Nabr for $60. I also just honed the block myself and dropped the suckers in. If you do forged pistons you HAVE to get everything bored and honed to spec by a machine shop.
