Well, I got to pulling off the tranny finally and found the problem I had a month ago when I last drove it. Seems as the Mitsu input shaft isn't long enough to fully engage both clutch disks on the QM setup. The input shaft chewed up the part of the disk splines it did engage and bored a hole a few mm bigger than the original splined hole. The good thing is there is no damage except for the disks themselves, bad thing is I can't just button it up and race this Saturday. I'll get some pics of the carnage up tomorrow.

Wow, so a design error in the clutch... Who else makes a multi disk for the 4G63 based engines?

And if you want to use it, besides new discs, will you have to get a custom input shaft?

That is right chromie & sleepy, good reading.
Glad to hear that you found out the problem steve, that is great news. A little sucky that you can't button it up quick though.
I take it next season/year we should see "goodbye" at a few more events?
Good luck on fixing it.

No, I just found out from some of the NABR guys that there were specific DSM instructions to put one of the discs backwards, which I didn't get. All I need are new discs, everything else is fine.

Well that sucks that you have to buy new disks but atleast you figured out the problem now.

How much do new disks run?

About $130. I was planning on replacing them this winter anyways.

Can you post the instructions up Steve? I want to make sure mine is on right. I didn't get a thing from Devo. I got my new disks for free. Were yours hardened?
