So have any of you guys looked at these. I have only seen 1 or 2 in person, and I knew they where turbo, but didn't now know they where also AWD.

Just wondering if some of you guys that like to test drive new rides ever took one of these out. The 06 models are priced under 23K in some places right now.

I drove some at Mazda Rev it up (and did really well) and I really liked them then. These were the NA/FWD ones and I wouldn't say it was fast but it handled pretty well. I heard on paper the turbo/awd ones aren't that fast or as fast as they should be.

God what I would love to own the Miata Speed though, those things are awesome.

I test-drove one when I was semi-considering getting rid of the S and getting one decent car for year-round use. I thought the car was great actually, it handled in typical MazdaSpeed fashion and and wouldn't let go of the road! The suspension really felt great, it handled like it was a lot lighter than it really is. It pulls like a freighttrain in 1st and 2nd gear but then kinda dies out in 4th-6th (still quick, just not push you back into the seat quick). I was also impressed with the interior, definitely a step-above the EVO and STi. Much more comfortable and refined. Tranny felt good too. At $22-24k (depending on dealership) brand new the price/value really can't be beat. Go test-drive one, you'll like it and I'm guessing Jana will approve.

Speed Miata is the one car I've driven thats more fun than the S, just too little for me to drive comfortably on a daily basis though. I saw dealerships giving them away for $19k brand new over in WI!

there nice i guess, but they just don't have an aftermarket yet, i'm still going with an evo.

My buddy Derek just bought one a couple months back. I like it. It's pretty comfy, the first few gears feel quick, but after 3rd, it starts to feel a little doggy for the 270hp it has. Probably because they are a bit heavy. But ya, he got it for a sweet deal because they lowered the price on them a lot. He got the base model one, so he doesn't have the credit card key, leather, or moonroof or anything. He has the exact one I'd get if I got one. Awesome daily driver. I think the top mount IC has some heat soaking issues though. Maybe next time we're all hanging out, Derek would let you take her for a quick spin.

I'll probably just take one for a spin to see what they feel like. Some poeple say they compare to an EVO on paper, but closer to an S4 on the road.

A buddy at work is the roomate of on of the guys at Brookdale so I'll see if I can get ahold of him some day and take one for a spin.

Morries Mazda in Minnetonka freely allows test-drives. All I do is go in, find a salesman, and say I want to test drive X car. I don't play any games. Mazda was gunning for the Legacy GT with the MS6.

My friend has one and I've ridden in it a handful of times. Chris' review is spot on, I agree with everything he said.

Yup, I wouldn't compare it to an evo in any way. It's competition was the Legacy GT. It's quick, yet pretty comfortable, and plenty of room in the interior. And it's rollin on 18's!
