View Full Version : Body World's at the Science Museum
Has anyone seent his exhibit at the scienc museum? I saw it last Friday, and I would absolutely reccomend it to anyone. It was fascinating to see how the human body works. It isn't too bad if you're the squeamish type either. But seeing the things like the hip and knee replacements did make me a little light headed. Not so much looking at it, but just thinking about having that kind of thing done to you.
The exhibit gets you thinking about how you treat your body, and how it affects you. They had a couple of smokers lungs which were pretty gross, but it would have been nice to see an ex smoker's lung to see how or if it clears up. They also had a cross section of an obese male. It sounds wiered to talk about it like that (cross section), but that's pretty much what it is. Anyway, it showed how the internal organs were stressed because of it.
Like I said, I would definitely reccomend it to anyone. It gives you a new perspective on your body.
I went there about a month ago. I loved it, there is allot of cool things there. It is crazy how they do that thing with the veins; it is like a full body, but only the veins.
Jana and I are still going to try and get there. I wonder when a good day/time is to go.

Oh yeah. I've forgotten about this. When I heard about it a couple months ago I planned to go see it. Isn't it going to be over soon?
I think it's extended until first part of December.

I enjoyed it. The headphones give interesting extra details, but I found them to be a distraction. The exhibits themselves are absolutely engrossing.
Well we finally headed out to this last night. Few key points: $63 total cost w/ parking and it was fucking cold out. Lots of traffic due to the Wild game.
Ok, we bought tickets for 7:45 and walked over to find somehwere to eat. After not finding anything we walked back to the Museum and thankfull got in at 5:30 instead. They said it would take 1-2 horus to go throgh it. Took us about 45 min.
In the end I just couldn't justify the cost. The coolest part of the whole thing for me was seeing the stages of life in actual size in the baby section. That was really eye opening to see. I also was expecting to be entrapped by the smokers lungs, but I wasn't. Overall the whole exibt didn't hit me like I thought it might. Granted there was some cool shit done with the bodies, but in the end I think someone really needs to have a better desire to know how the body works than I do.
The Hoarse as the end was pretty cool to see as well as the other animals they had with the veins. Overall I'm glad I went, cause who knows if i'd ever get a chance to see something like that again, but I think it was definatly over priced and over hyped.

So it was like 30 dollars a person? Geez.
Yes, it would have been nice to have an option to only pay for that exhibit, as I really did not care to go through the whole musuem again. I am glad we went, but I also agree that it was over-hyped, and over priced.
They have free science museum passes at most public libraries around here I think. You still have to pay for the exhibit, but it would have saved you about $20 (I forgot exactly how much it was).
