Just got my car back together and the thing smokes. Its a 1995 Talon TSI FWD. It smokes all the time. I believe its blue smoke but I cant really tell. I know thats oil but what could be burning. The car is completely stock, I just swaped the turbo cuz I thought it was that. I was thinking about checking out the PCV system and see if thats any good. Anything anyone else knows of?
Thanks!

Did you do a compression test? Are the valve seals completely shot? Pull off your IC pipe and see if it's full of oil, that'll tell you if it's the turbo or not.

IC pipse is dry and so is the intake of the turbo. I am going to do a comp test in a min. I got the engine and was told it was a good working engine with no problems.

Comp test is 165 across the board. When I removed cyl 3 and 4 plugs the threads and the washer were oily. But the plugs looked in decent condition.

hows the tips of your spark plugs? oil on plugs tips is likely your valve stem seals are worn out. oil in the spark plug holes means your valve cover gasket needs replacing soon. hope that helps

could it be something as simple as assembly lube burning off?

There was no assembly lube used. The engine was a "running" engine. I swaped out the PCV valve because that seems to dump in the 3rd and 4th runner. I have yet to drive it like that tho. but reving it up in the garage it seemed to be alot less smoke(I couldnt tell if it was cuz it was cold or actual smoke).

Hmmm, everything sounds fine with the engine and turbo, try plugging the manifold port for the PCV and run the pcv valve to atmosphere. See if that solves the problem.

I tried that but I didnt drive it around. I just reved it up and it seemed to help.
