And the guy was a total fool. He had just picked the car up this morning, and was convinced it was the fastest thing on the planet. I asked him if he wanted to race and he was sure I didn't have a chance. I was pretty sure he'd walk me, but now I'm looking at the specs on these things, and it looks like my evo should give one of these a run for it's money in its current form.

Of course, I had 4 people in the car, all with fresh cups of hot coffee so I didn't get a chance to see any real world action....:( Maybe next time!

You probably take him even if only for the sole fact his tires wouldn't be able to hook in these temps.

GT500? Ford GT? I am not sure what car you are talking about.
Mustang GT500?

I'd bet on your Evo if you raced. Car and Driver claims a 1/4 of 12.9. Not very impressive for something with 450hp.

Here's a tip to automakers. Instead of continuing to add 100's of hp to cars, how about you drop 500-800 lbs of weight. Anybody notice the ridiculous number of 400+ hp cars that aren't any faster then 300hp cars from the early 90's? (Ford GT and the new Z06 are two obvious exceptions to that list)

But I'm guessing those big HP numbers attract a lot of idiot car buyers (probably like the owner of this particular car).

Car and Driver test drivers are also editors and they aren't the best drivers out there. The test results should not be taken as fact. I'm sure they did all kinds of crazy burnouts when launching or at least granny shifted and didn't double clutch like they should. Lets just say they don't live their lives a 1/4 mile at a time.

This is true, you can come out and just say that they are worthless. However, they claimed that it's no faster than the '03-04 Cobras they tested. So there you have it. Fails all around.

i think most of the magazines got around 113mph traps out of them, so they are making some power being 4000lb boats.

Wow, no doubt. Curb weight is 3920 lbs!

Curb weight of my evo8 is about...3200 lbs?
