This is upsetting to me and my family. My little sister had this teacher for art last year and went on this very field trip. She saw everything this little boy saw, and it didn't bother her one bit. Hunter [my sister] absolutely adored her, and thought she was a great teacher.

I think it is absolutely ridiculous that a mother chose to complain about this when, that same year, they watched the "birds and the bees" video! How is that ANY worse? Both the video containing genetalia and the nude statues at the art museum are shown in order to teach the kids something! And what bothers me most, is that the damn mother signed a permission slip for her son to go! Did she honestly think he wouldn't see something of the sort at a damn ART MUSEUM? Ridiculous.

The teacher was on the radio this morning so my mother called in to talk to her and offer our support. I felt so bad for her. Me and my sister were listening to it on the radio as I went to drop her off at school and during it, Mrs. McGee said hi to Hunter and even started to cry.

How unfair.

That is ridiculous...its a stone statue! People really need to stop trying to "protect" children from every little tiny thing, it does more harm that it does good! I can promise you though, a couple hundred year old stone statue is doing no harm to any child's brain. If nude is so tramatizing, maybe they should look towards locker rooms at gyms and local pools.

My mom is a teacher and its ridiculous some of the things school boards will do in response to a parent complaint. Especially in the weathier districts.

That is pretty dumb. Look at TV, Magazines.. There is sex everywhere and they complain about art.

Every year in health during middle school we had to learn about the birds and the bees... seeing everything including childbirth. I dont see how a stupid statue is different. TV, and movies are farrrr worse when it comes to content, and Im sure the kid sees it everyday. Unless its one of those psycho parents that locks their kids in the closet when they come home from school.

You have no idea. She forced her kid to switch schools as well.

Good god. Do schools not take field trips into the real world anymore? I went to numerious art and history muesums in elementary, middle, high school, and college!

Now this child really is scarred for life, not because of the statue, but because of how her mother acted and being forced to into a new place where she is forced to make all new friends (if she even can b/c I am sure everybody down there knows of her by now and will undoubtedly single her out).

She is.

My mom told me that at first they weren't going to fully fire her, they were just putting her on a paid suspension til next school year. But for whatever reason they found all these "other" reasons to fire her, like not preparing full lesson plans. So she got canned. Sounds more like Frisco ISD realized they fucked up and started looking for reasons to get rid of her all together. But my siser always did well in her class and really enjoyed it and my mom always thought she was a great teacher. Especially since my sister SUCKS at art, but she seemed to be learning a lot and improving.

Do you know if the statue was of a male or female? Im guessing femail because if the boy saw a male statue... then wtf he saw what he already has!
