i have a copy of tmo on my laptop and im trying to connect it to my car. my pocketlogger cable has two parts connected by a 9pin d-sub. my laptop also has a 9pin d-sub. the only problem is that the end of the cable that i need has a male connector and the computer also has a male end. i found an online store that sells female/female adaptors so that i can connect the two together. will that work or is there some other way to connect it?

Did you buy just a gender changing plug or a null modem plug? If it cost $8, I'm assuming you got a null modem adapter, which won't work.

You may have to go into settings and activate the port on your laptop.

i did get a gender changer it says right on top of it. im not sure how to set up the port. usually windows xp will do most of it for you. ill give it another try tomorrow. maybe the power to the cord came off. it falls off all the time when im using the pda.

If you got the null modem or gender changer cable it wont work... the internal wires are switched in the plugs to work with systems like voicemail and crap.

You have to get a regular serial cable adapter.
