Someone with more time than I have wanna gte me started in a tranny search for the truck. Stock or a good aftermarket one. I don't care. I need something in the next month or so though.

Why not take it somewhere and have it rebuilt?
Cause the truck is getting parked and having only storage insurance on it for a few months until I can get a good tranny in it.

Well my vote goes for pulling the tranny and running it down to Goered Brothers in St. Lucas, IA, unless you find someplace in the Cities. Or at least give them a call and see if they can get you one.
Why them? That's not a far drive if i could justify the work? never heard of them.

....because I have never heard a negative complaint against them in regards to automatic transmission work. Especially when one is dealing with the shitty Dodge transmissions, you want nothing but the best in terms of repair. I just ran a quick Google search and their name pops up on some of the diesel truck boards out there. They used to have a website but I'll be damned if I can find it again. Give your Dad a call, I bet he's heard of them.
...Just my $0.02

how did you blow it?

I also vote for rebuilding it or getting a rebuilt one then sending you back to the place (sometimes you can get them for cheap if you do it that way and just get someone elses rebuilt tranny)
I didn't blow it but now is the tiem to park it before it gets any worse. I am not a big fan of rebuilding a dodge tranny as to putting in a aftermarket one. I have a line a rebuilt one with warrenty for under a grand shipped, or under 800 with core.
I would search car-part.com for one with an optional extended warranty. When the tranny went out in the integra, I found one for $500 and another $200 for a lifetime warranty. The warranty was good for as long as I owned the car. Had the car for three years and no problems.
