So what does the 1DIMM and 2DIMM mean?

Sorry if I am sounding retarded, but you guy are at least explainging this stuff within my understanding.
that is the number of ram chips

1 dimm is one stick of memory
2 dimm...i'll let you guess :)

the reason for springing for a single slotted chip, is that you can upgrade without removing ram.

Which one of these video cards would be the better fit as long as the $$$ difference is not an option?

256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™

256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™Go 7300 TurboCache

according to the graphs i've found online. The geforce is faster.

but ATi's tend to look slightly better(at least in the past anyway)

Alright,

This is what I went with:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB)

2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM

80GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive (for some reason they pulled the 7200rpm yesterday)

256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™Go 7300 TurboCache

With minor upgrades on a few other things, I'd be getting this delivered to my door for right at $1330. if I did the following changes:

1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 DIMM

60GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

I'd be at 1081.00 to my door.

This is for the laptop only, no extended warrenty plans or package deal stuff with aprinters and such.

Opinions?

do you have wireless setup at your house already?

if not, get the netgear 802.11g with intel's internal card for 71 bones. That is not a bad price. The Draft N stuff is fast as chit at 300mb, but your inet connection isn't probly anything past 3mbps.

so the 54mbps g band is more than enough.

It's costing me $29.47 a paycheck for 22 pay checks. 100% intrest free. My last financed Dell was a $1500 system that cost us close to $2200 when all said and done I'm guessing.

BUMP! I got a quesiton for the gamers. I just installed Joint Task Force on my lap top and after a proper installation the game will play, but I can't see anything normal. It's like it's all supersized or something. This spark anything without more infor for some reason?
