Here is the background, the other day i started up my car just fine and drove it over to my friends house a few blocks away. i get there and shut off the car then talk and then try to go and start the car and as soon as i put the key in and turn it to acc. it clicks and clicks and clicks. We figured is was the battery so we got it tested and it failed. I purchased a new one i had been eyeing up, a basically 1 off optima.

Now today it was raining all day so i didn't drive anywhere, then me and my gf were gonna go get some dinner so i went and picked her up, the car ran just fine, then i was driving at about 45 and hit a manhole cover and the car stalled like it misfired but it kept running and it ran smooth again. I soon discovered i can recreate this anytime by hitting a hard bump, sometimes the car will die sometimes it will go back to normal idle. I checked the DSMlink to see if the ECU threw a code but it did not. one thing i did notice is as i was logging and tried to recreate the stall the dsmlink would just stop logging right when it happens and the lights would flicker also.

Anyone have any idea what this problem might be?

Tomorrow I'm going to see if any cords are loose or disconnected also look for holes or loose clamps in my intake system.

Any help is appreciated.

Bad grounds or bad MAS plug...sounds retarded, but check.

I agree, esp since I had similar issues with my battery ground cable coming loose every now and then, so I just replaced it and now it's money.

Check to see if the terminals on the battery are making burns / holes in your hood. If you have the improper size battery and it's not secured correctly, the terminals will hit the hood over bumps and ruin the circuit for the split second causing youd car to die and / or bog out really bad.

That's something stupid but sometimes that's all it is! ( I had this happen to me like 2 years ago)

A similar thing happened to me, I hit a pot hole just before I shut the car down and on the next start up my car ran horribly rich. I dove across town and just popped the hood and wiggled the mas plug and the car shaped right up and ran fine.

i found the problem, the new wing nut was hitting the hood when i was going over bumps. I replaced it with a regular nut so it can't touch now. here is a pic attached (sorry that its a bad pic) Thank you for all your help.
