Hey guys I'm new to this site. I was wondering if any of you could help me. I havn't been driving it. incause it is the tranny
My gsx is making a knocking sound when it is in gear and is moves. it does not make the noise in neutral only when it is shifted in to gear. the knocking also speeds up when the car is going faster. It is load enough for me to hear it over my 3' exhaust.
How about some details? Year? Auto? Does the knocking get faster as you speed up? Where is the knocking coming from?

Is it AWD? Does it change when you make any turns? Some how, can you get an idea on what area it might be coming from?
This may have nothing related, but an idea. When I got my 3" exhaust, it was custom made. At first, the hangers were like 1/4" too short, and hit the joint where my drive axle meets with the rear dif. It made a knocking sound, which got faster with the speed of the vehicle.

I have a '99 GSX 5 sp with about 57,000 miles ono it. The noise becomes more rapid as i speed up. It does not seem as loud in 5 gear. I just went to auto zone and hade a CEL checked. it was random miss fire. on my way home it starts to make this loud knocking noise. Only in gear and right before I engage in to whatever gear i'm going in to. You can almost feel it in the shifter.
I had my dad rid eon the car with the hood up and he said it was coming from the general area of the transmission.
so drive shaft, drive axles, tranny?

Check to see if you have all the same size tire wheel in all four. When one of my tires blew out I was driving with a flat tire for a couple miles it made that same noise. My tranny was trying to tell me something is wrong luckily I found out before I drove too far or I would of fucked up my awd.

Alright thank you for everyones help. It looks like I have my winter project all planned out. It is a chipped tooth in one of the gears. So I'm going to pull it and get a shep stage 3 or 4.
A question that I amasking myself is:
What is the Hp rating on those stages. Will it work with my set up.
