Questions about Techmotive data logger.

I have a techmotive datalogger program that I bought from someone off of tuners, it plugs into a laptop. I needed an adapter to go from the serial port to usb.... I bought the kespan one for $40, cuz people said this would work. The program says that it can not find the ecu. Anybody have any experience with this software?

I can't seem to get it to work.
