haha thanks. I thought by getting a mac that can pull up windows I should be able to pull up dsmlink easy? I've spent some time reading what you can do with dsmlink but not necisarily how to do it yourself. I was planning on having lse tune my car just to be safe. Josh has tuned a million dsms and from what ive seen and heard hes pretty quick as well.
yeah if you use bootcamp to run windows you wont have to do anything else special to run DSMlink

one other thing to consider: what does DSM link use for a connection? if its RS232 (serial) you will have to buy a usb adapter.

If I recall it does use that connection. Thats why I was trying to remember if Apple puts the RS232 on there computers.
But all in all. Both PC and Mac have there pros and cons layed out many of times. I like Macs for doing graphics and then I like PC's because of well Games. Thats just me. I don't hate Macs I just don't want to own one. Well besides an Ipod... :D

Just get a Keyspan usb-to-serial adapter at microcenter, and then get a copy of parallels. You'll be good to go. Is this a macbook? Mine should be in today, I will be getting a copy of dsmlink & testing it out :)

just a little addition
if you do go the keyspan route. make sure to go into the software and tell it COM1

There's still a debate about macs. I have OSX running on my Dell laptop that cost me 1/2 of a mac and is twice as powerful. Apple is just turning into Sun... overpriced hardware with a unix kernel OS that's all flashy. I do however wish I could install the slapbook for my dell...

That slapbook is awesome, its the most innovative way to switch between desktops since........well....ever!!!
how it works: The software app uses the internal hard drive sensor which normally parks the read/write heads during freefall. The sensor is very good and can detect small slaps! yeay!
and good for you getting X to run on your dell, I hope you can get X.5 working on it when it comes out.
Apple is the BMW of computers, it caters nitch market, and it is, without a doubt the ultimate.
so you can fester all you want with your dell, but BMW/Apple FTW!!! can I get some support M/// Guy?

Aw people can say what they want. You can get dells that are nicer than macs, but i just like where apple is going. It's new and different. All dell is doing is spinning the screan around haha. Naw seriously though i like em both. W/e gets me around fast.
