Does anyone run 20w-40.

Personally I'd change any oil at around 5k in a Mitsu turbo motor. I used to run my stealth past that with Mobil 1 and the lifter tick got pretty bad in the end. I think the oil takes a lot of abuse when it's going threw a hot turbo(s). On an NA you should be able to get more miles.

Well I am running Moble 1 and I am getting bad Lifter Tick (I need to get my head rebuilt though). I want to switch to Rotella-T in my car because it is a heavier oil. I am hesitating on doing that because I have heard that switching back to a regular oil isn't really good for you engine once its had synthetic. Also do the people running Rotella-T run it in the winter at all?

On a side question since we are on oil, what is a good transmission and rear end oil to use?

I run Rotella, but I don't drive my car in the winter. With my new motor I'll be running next season, I'm really not sure what oil I'll be running. I'm sure some people will say I should run Synthetic, but meh, I'll probably keep running Rotella. I noticed Rotella sells just a 10w-30 in the jugs too. I never knew that before. I might switch to that now instead of the 15W-40.

And about the tranny fluid...

Switching from a synthetic to a conventional poses no problem at all, do it at your will. Rotella-T is a very good oil, 15W-40 works great in the summer and the 10W-30 in the winter (or 10W-30 year-round).

As for tranny/diff fluids, use a mix of 2 quarts of Redline MT-90 and 1 quart MTL for the transmission; for the rear differential use Mobil 1 or Redline 75W-90.

Just to update I did switch to Rotella-T. I do notice the difference! It is probably because it is a thicker oil then the M-1 stuff. With the M-1, I think the turbo just gets that stuff too hot and it becomes thin. I still get lifter tick but not as nearly as bad with the M-1. I still have to rebuild the head.

On a side note. I also used a can of sea foam for the first time through the throttle body. Wow smoke screen! It helped as well however now I know where my exaust leaks are.:(

Bringing this one back to life real quick. I was just at walmart picking up some oil, and seen they now offer a sythetic under their Supertech name. Anyone know much about this? It appears to be a Group III base Synthetic. It's freaking cheap though. I think it was like $15 for 5 quarts.
