Check engine light question

Does the timing get pulled if the check engine light is on on a 95 tsi?

I am assuming your CEL is on? Get the code pulled if it is.

As far as I know the only time timing is pulled(due to knock) and your CEL in on is if you have a chip burned for it or if you have DSMlink and you have it set to do that. Otherwise I dont know, I am not sure if the stock ECU does that.

My check engine light is on and it's fine. I have no cat so it throws off my o2 readings. My car runs fine.
