Im looking around carsoup and I found a fairly nice looking 95 talon awd with a lot of miles, and according to carfax it was issued a salvage title in november 2005, after an accident in october 2005. According to carsoup it damaged the left front side.
http://www.carsoup.com/used/detail.asp?usedVehicleID=2973864&minYear=1995&maxYear=1999&searchID=45034570&vehicleTypeID=1&UVViewID=4&Page=1&DealerGroupID=
I dont know if that link will work, i know sometimes linking to carsoup works, and sometimes it doesnt.
Anyways, should I check it out and if it all seems straight use the title as a bargaining point or should I just steer clear and avoid it entirely.
thanks for all the help!
Also if anyone wants a VIN # checked I can do that for ya, just PM me the # and your email, and ill email you the results!

You back in MN son?
Take the car to an autobody shop and see what they have to say. It would probably cost you 50 bucks but if the unibody is tweaked.. I probably wouldn't buy it. If it's a matter of putting body parts on + paint + headlights and shit... I'd go for it!

Yah Id do that if you are interested. Also I notice that the car used to be purple(underhood and door jams). Does the car still have a salvage title? I dont know if this is correct but I thought that if it did have one you can get it fixed and get inspected and then it doesnt have one anymore.

Yeah, im back home finally!!
The car looks like its all back together. Theres a little gap between the front bumper and the hood.

Yes you can get a new title for it and get rid of the Salvaged title name, but people will still be able to see on carfax that it had a salvaged title at one point. Not a big deal in my opinion. My guess is the bumper is a sertifit bumper because it "sorta fits." Also, there is no hood emblem which is another good hint that it's not an oem bumper. I got the same thing on my bumper and I'm pretty sure that's what it is. OEM body parts are about twice as much as a sertifit part. Not a big deal, just thought I'd share that little bit of info with ya. Good luck! But remember, it takes time to find the right dsm. Took me a good 4 months.

With the abuse that the average DSM has gone through, worrying about a salvage title shouldn't be a priority. Go check out the car from end to end. That is more important on a DSM with 172,000 miles.

Yeah, I wouldnt worry about a salvage title. Not on an older used car with lots of miles anyway. And it depends when its accident happened, if it was fixed a few years ago, I think all the problems from getting fixed would have surfaced already. However, if you were looking at say an 04 Evo for $10 grand with a salvage title, I would be more worried about it.
