Should have wired it in parallel which gives you two 12v sources feeding into one circuit. Series gives you a set-up that wants to be 24v. ;)
Wow, yeah, duh, holy shit.......

Id reccomend Optima batteries, seeing as I work in the battery industry, I could probably get a pretty decent deal on a red top Optima here at the Woodbury Batteries Plus.

Wow, yeah, duh, holy shit.......Just trying to be helpful. ;)
I fried an Optoma yellow top a few years ago. As to how I fried it, I have no idea. I had it wired in series with my underhood battery for my stereo power supply.
One thing to keep in mind is that a number of well known battery brands are all manufactured by the same company, Johnson Controls:
http://www.johnsoncontrols.com/bg/products_brands.htmYup, I have seen a couple of them go bad after a year or too, BUT I have seen many more last a long time. Every brand will have their bad apples but that is what the warranty is for.
Like Jakey said though Johnson Controls makes batteries for many many companies. Optima, Ever Start, Die Hard, Ford, etc... They are the leading manufacturer with batteries and produce some really good products.
I suggest Die Hard but I am a little biased since I sell them.
EDIT: Here is a link to all Johnson Controls batteries. There have been recent changes though with companies they own and will probably be adding more to their lineup.

Any battery made by Johnson Control, Motor Craft and AC Delco.
Avoid anything made by Exide.

+1 for Optima redtop. I have one in my Spyder. I can put the top up and down all day long and doesn't even put a drain on the battery. (without the car running)
I also ran a sump pump for two hours using that same battery. The Spyder still started up fine afterwards.
