I put in my new alternator and I ended up breaking the Oil pressure switch(alternator sliped and fell on it). The end where you hook up the wire came off. So I glued it back together for temperary fix so I could drive it. Is this safe to do? Also under my car was a small spring, Does that go in there? What exactly does it do?

As far as I know the switch only turns the idiot light on/off on the dash for low oil pressure, does nothing else to the car.

yup, you should be fine. Just get a new sending unit & you'll be fine.

get an aftermarket gauge that actually reads better then the stock one..i wouldn't even mess with that stock one. But yes, it only turns the light on and off, based on the pressure the sending unit sees.

But wouldnt a aftermarket guage go where the "oil pressure guage" unit is(the bigger of the 2 on the oil filter housing)? Thanks for the help guys!
