View Full Version : iPod control of stereos
Does anyone have experience with many of the new stereo's and iPod control? I am putting a new stereo in my new car and would like one that will connect to an ipod and show the names, scroll, etc.
I have loved Sony for a long time, but it doesn't show anything about controlling the ipod on their website, the same with kenwood. Their websites leave a lot to be desired, so they just may not show it. Pioneer and Clarion both have full control.
Right now I am looking at the Clarion DXZ865MP or the Pioneer DEH-P980BT. I have never been a Pioneer fan and the Clarion has noise cancellation, which is nice in a convertible...oops!! :D
:D FUCK'N A I know the answer.

Most brands have ipod capability, depends on if you want to put your ipod in the glove box and just control the songs through the deck- you need an external unit that is compatible with the deck which is extra and you plug that into the deck and the ipod into it.
Or you can just get a deck that has rca inputs and then control songs with the ipod.
Im not a fan of clarion, Id say stick with Pioneer as they are my personal favorite and last forever- not sure why you dont like them... Kenwood, Alpine and sony are good too.
Pioneer has always been known for muddy bass. They have gotten much better lately, but I am still not a fan. I have a newer one in my truck. The pioneer has a 16 band EQ, so I should be able to get it to sound good. Anyone else with first hand experience?

Alpine seems to have the best ipod itegration into the decks these days. You can control everything right from the head unit names scroll folders all that good stuff.

I agree, Alpine has some stereos with great iPod integration.
I've never liked Pioneer or Sony car audio decks, the sound doesn't seem to even compare with Kenwoods and Alpines.

I had the best speakers they had to offer for car audio, a 1000 watt 4-channel AMP, and I forget which head unit. It sounded so fucking good I couldn't believe and it pounded plenty for me.
