Well ever since I've owned this '91 gs-t it has thrown a CEL for the knock sensor. I replaced it twice and checked the wiring/plug. I just can't seem to figure this thing out. It is causing an extreme high knock count resulting in piss poor performance. It does this about 75% of the time and only after it has gotten up to operating temp. It even shows 43 counts of knock during deceleration. What could be causing this?! Thanks

Are you properly installing the knock sensor (ie- following recommended torque specs)?

I don't have the proper tools to get the exact torque on the sensor but i've tried multiple different amounts of torque with no change in the outcome.

I don't understand what you're saying here. You don't have the proper tools to get the exact torque but have tried different torque amounts? Are you evening using a torque wrench?

What has been suggested to me was to finger tighten the knock sensor, then using a crescent wrench, tighten it I believe a 1/4 or 1/2 turn to have it roughly torqued at the 10 or 12 ft-lbs it needs. Thats what I have done with mine, and it works fine :) Could you have serverly noisy lifters?

It's not possible to use a torque wrench without a proper socket to tighten it since the wire comes out the top of it. And the 1/4 to 1/2 turn is also what I have heard which is what I have tried. I suppose I could have very noisy lifters but why would that cause the CEL.
