ok I had a problem with my stock o2 sensor startin on fire! I have a air/fuel gauge and it did not read, my check engine light also comes on only when I am not on the gas? so I bought a new o2 sensor and put it in but I still get a check engine light everytime I get off the gas. My air/fuel started to work again and I was happy..........But today I am not getting a reading (again) on my air/fuel gauge after just replacing the o2 sensor....I know that my guage is not wired wrong. the sensor was wired perfect and I checked it 10times. so Could it be that my o2 sensor is shorting out somewhere, could there be something that is causing the sensor to through off the computer??????

Unless you have a wideband, those air/fuel gauges are worthless. But hey it's your car and you can do whatever you want. I'd stop by Checker and get a scan tool, see what the CEL is on for? Or get a logger, and check it. Maybe check the 02 sensor harness too?

What kind of car? 1G,2G? Front or rear O2. You should not just put a new part in and not figure out what went wrong. You could have F'd up that sensor too.

I am sure most people would have put a new 02 sensor in if it wasn't getting a reading. Especially as most of the people on here have 02 sensors as old as the car.

it a 90 laser RS turbo with a boost controler, safc1, 255lph, and thats it. My o2 sensor started on fire BC the two Black wires that are on the stock o2 had worn down causing them to touch together. when they both touched It caused me to blow a MPI fuse that was conected right to the battery, and start on fire where the black wires were touching(right by the manifold).

you could have messed up the wires going to the fuse. Have you took a look at them yet?
