Hey, I noticed that turbo on ebay does not have a wastegate. You would have to find the correct wastegate for that turbo or possibly they have welded shut the wastegate for an external.
Also it doesn't look like the knockoff or the real MHI turbo, I would ask for a receipt to prove what it is or maybe someone here will know.

Don't waste your money, just buy a new one & be done with it:

never buy an ebay turbo.
Or better yet, dont buy car parts more complex than a shift knob off ebay. Theres way too much hack shit on there.

so if it seems ok
So if you're going to meet the seller to look at the turbo, what are you going to use to determine if it's "ok" or not?

again, never buy a turbo online. Doesn't matter if he's willing to meet you or not. Who was the guy on this forums that had a major turbo problem due to buying it online.
Scheides just pointed you towards a good new 16g. A hundred or two more but the chances of it being GOOD is way higher.
If you have the patience, people on here might sell some.
If you do buy this minnesotan ebay turbo, is your car a 1g or 2g?
If yours is a 2g (as assuming from your name) your going to need some additional stuff, b/c its not a direct bolt on. Gonna cost you another hundred or two (i think).
If you meet him, do you know how to inspect if its a good turbo or not? Might wanna bring someone who would know.
-Sorry, not trying to sound negative or not, just giving you a heads up from the stories i've heard from people who did buy an ebay turbo-

if this is the case then you should be saving insted of spending. Whatever price you pay for the turbo your gonna need more $ for supporting mods if you dont already have them and your also going to need $ for misc things (nuts, bolts, lines, porting, and install if your not doing it yourself) IMO, a house would be way more important then a car.
Yeah, if you're stretching your budget to pick up some ebay junk (which looks like you'll at the very least need a wastegate/actuator for) then you might want to re-think the whole turbo upgrade thing. Or get a 14b for $100 and sell it later for the same price.
