View Full Version : Looking into a turbo, but whitch housing?
I have heard that the mitsu and the t3/4 turbo housings are both better and worse than eachother. Could anyone tell me from experience whitch one is more efficient than the other? I will probably be running a bb 50 trim.
The Garret is usually a tad more efficient, depending on the wheels used. What exactly are you asking? I would imagine you are trying to compare it to a 20g? Or are you talking about turbine wheels? The 50 trim is a bit larger than a 20g.
I'm talking about if you were to compare a 50-31 with a mitsu housing and a 50-31 with a garret turbine housing, whitch one would offer better performance with a manifold mounted wastegate.
Are you talking the PTE mitsu housing? Which garrett housing, .63?
Going full garrett will be a little better if that is the case, but the cost is higher. Performance won't be very different from the 2 (assuming this is what you are talking about).

Also remember the huge difference in using the parts you have, like a downpipe, oil lines, exhaust manifold. Mitsu housings are nice since shit bolts right up. Unless you're going with something bigger than what's available with a Mitsu housing, or you're going all custom anyways, it's easier just to stick with Mitsu stuff.

That's just it, when I decide I have the time, money, and tools, I will be replacing everything you mentioned. Mani-a cast piece with an external wg hole on it; Turbo; Oil supply-SS lines will be installed; exhaust-fully custom...
You answered my question, I'll end up going the garret way when I do anything.

Why not an FP3055?

Why?? Why not use a 2g exhaust manifold? Also remember you will have to go external WG with a Garrett, if you hadn't planned that already. Please, don't get a manifold with the WG hole on the #1 runner. Get one where it is in the collector (FP turbo's) or on the O2 housing. If you don't know why, there are posts about it in the archives.

I'm planning on an external wg and thanks for mentioning to get the hole on the collector, I had forgotten about that.
