Thats great, I would watch and learn. Its nice you have access to the proper tools and I hope a clean facility to build a motor. Find a reputable machine shop to do the boring/honing/decking/balancing etc.

look in the phone book, we use machine shops in Minneapolis and such, have your dad check them out with you he should now what to look for.

Here's a little advice from some one in about the same boat as you. Don't just watch. Make sure whoever is helping you build gets you in there helping and getting your hands dirty. It's the only way to learn. Stephan and I have already started on my engine and it really helps that he's getting me doing a lot of the work while he's doing it to and talking me through and explaining things. BIG help!

I don't think I would really like other guys getting my hands dirty. I would rather have them tell me what to do.
