Last night I started driving and my headlights wouldn't come on. I flipped them to brights and they flashed on for a second and went out. When I looked under the hood I could smell like a wired burned out or something. Can I get some help on where to start and what to check first? Thanks

check the fuse? my brothers gvr4 headlights go out randomly when the fuse wiggles out enough.

Possibly your voltage regulator on the alternator went out. I had that happen with a brand new alternator. While your driving check and see if your dash lights appear brighter than normal, or even while revving the engine.

Have you checked...da da da dum....the bulbs? If they are still good look at the wires and fuses.

Mine did that too. There's wires behind the headlight assembly that were touching/grounding out. Check all that..., wrap anything up in elec. tape and replace the headlight fuse which is a green fuse.

Some salt and ice melting solutions the DOT puts out might have worked its way into the wiring harness and melted some wires. Underneath the radiator and near the ABS pump (on a 2G). Happened to me, cost me about $400
