The balljoint in the lower control arm, driver's side of my 93 GSX has gotten sloppy. Mitsu only sells the full control arm. I see listed at napa the balljoint itself, but I don't have a press. Has anyone done this? Any shops/home guys with a press that'd give me a quote on replacement? ~$35 for the balljoint seems more reasonable than ~$190 for a new control arm.

Please let me know either here, PM, or email at jeff@isdi.biz

Go to autozone and borrow there ball joint press. It is easy but takes a sometime and patence (MN salt does wonders to metal). You might as well replace both of them while you are at it.

ah, i didn't realize that the press i needed was something that could be borrowed/rented. I will probably take that route then.

I also need to replace a boot on the power steering rack, so will have to do that at the same time.

Thanks a bunch for the tip, would much rather do it myself.

I never replaced the boot on the steering rack. Sorry could not help you there. Oh you are going to need a torch and some liquid wrench.
