We've been doing this for a while now. I had a thread posted in the street forum but no one showed interest. Thought I'd post up here.
We get together every saturday nite (7pm) in either Farmington, Eagan or New Prague and play.
We play a little differently, but the core rules of Texas Hold 'Em are adhered to. The variances are these;
1. $20 buy-in with unlimited re-buys until there are 3 people left. This has led us to an over $800 pot one time with only 8 people playing.
2. If you go out in third place (a guaranteed money position) you can buy back in for what you would've won with the only guarantee being that you have to win 1st or 2nd to get any money. Sounds complicated but it's not. You are basically forfeiting the third place prize if you buy back in with the hopes to win 1st or 2nd.
3. We hold a bounty on the head of the previous weeks winner's head. Anyone who wants to be in on the bounty puts in $2 at the beginning of the game. The first person to take out the previous weeks winner for the first time collects the bounty. If the person that takes out the bountied person and did not pay in for the bounty, the person that had the bounty on their head gets the cash. If the person with the bounty on their head never gets taken out, they get the bounty.
4. We are in the middle of an ongoing points tournament. Those that want in on that tournament pay an extra $5 at the beginning of the game and are then eligible for points for the championship. They still retain any winnimgs from finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd for any given weekend. But if they are in 1st, 2nd or 3rd for points at the end of the tournament (13 weeks total, we are in week 8 now), they get a share of the $5 per game entry fee. You don't have to contribute to this in order to play on any given weekend just to be eligible for points. We will be starting this up again a few weeks after this tournament is done.
We usually have anywhere from 8-14 players. There is food abd beverage there. If you want to bring something, you are more than welcome to and encouraged to do so. We have good tunes and good times.
