View Full Version : Bored at work..
The snow isnt even good for snowboarding these days. Oh, I'd hate a 4 hour break between classes. I wouldnt want to stay, but I wouldnt want to pay for extra gas to go home and come back.
I live a block away from campus so the back and forth isn't bad. I just hate waking up at 7 only to be back at home at ten and then sit with nothing to do.
I wish I had a garage so I could have my car here.

Welcome to my world! I'm usually bored at work but I guess if they want to pay me for it I'm not going to complain. Today I got Messenger 8.0 Beta so I've been playing around with that... it doesn't look too special to me. I've got 5 invites if anyone else wants to see it just send me you're email addy. I don't know if anyone even uses MSN Messenger anymore. :) Ok that's it, I'll shut up now.

I'm right there with you guys. I'm schedualed only 3 hour shifts, and it's never busy enough for me to stay more than two hours. I think I've worked a whole shift maybe twice since I got the job in September. It's pathetic.

Today all I did was build a pair of replicating database servers, design an multi-homed enterprise-level network for a new client, sell a firewall, upgrade some anti-spam software on 3 servers, and eat left-over thai. Oh yea, and I get to go back tonight to switch over to an upgraded firewall setup.
...of course, I read realultimatepower.net, checked out some diggs on digg.com, and found just a short while for fark.com...working in IT rules! work, play, fool around, tear your hair out all over the same monitor(s) and keyboard!
If you're bored, just visit http://video.google.com and watch their most popular area....endless fun!
I also highly recommend RaidenX : http://www.ebaumsworld.com/games/raidenx.html

compacting a repairing a database presently.
what else am I going to do :)
luckly the internet has no limit to quasi entertaining stuff.
and there are always the cisco ip telephony and unity ebooks :-D
Are you a Database Admin?? I'm trying to get my Bachelors in DBA but I'm still doing pre-req's. How do you like being a DBA? I'm already a network engineer but I found it to be kinda boring. Anyone else on here a DBA?
When I'm bored at work, I just look out the window behind my desk at my 2g in the parking ramp and think of what I should do to it next :D .. or of course get on style.

i'm just a lowely pc tech for the county.
but that also means there aren't enough people to do all the work. So i'd say, i'm a database assistant more than a administrator :-D
as my job **should** only be working with pc's.
i'm more of a server administrator than anything. wireless, wired cisco-3com stuff and the list goes on :)
database stuff is fun but i'm not all that smart with it yet. 90% of that stuff goes too the network analysts here who make about 15k more than I do anyway :)
